We’ve all seen it or engaged with it: internet content involving children. When children cannot give informed consent, it creates a grey area around their presence on the internet, especially if that presence involves money. Today, we talk about some of the issues concerning families who vlog their lives as well as — on a smaller scale — folks who share information about their children on social media. Although children on the internet may seem harmless, there is an unfortunately dark undercurrent that we cannot ignore.
